editors note: Yes - I know these are not reviews but rather a list of bars and clubs. Some u may know about and others u may not. I learned of a few. If anyone wants to post a detailed review of any of these by all means please do and send it in. thx.
Hotel clubs/bars:
Park 87+ - Conrad Hotel
Spassos - Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel (usually full of working girls but also a lot of guys)
Concept CM2 – Basement of Novotel Hotel in Siam Square (packed with working girls, including a section devoted to ladies from Eastern Europe/Russia, but seems to be slowly being taken over by customers from India and the Middle East)
Met Bar – Metropolitan Hotel (very hi-so and sometimes they want members only)
Syn Bar - Nai Lert Hotel
BarSu - Sheraton Hotel on Sukhumvit
Flava - Dream Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 15
Westin Hotel lobby bar on Sukhumvit Soi 19 – usually has absolutely gorgeous girls serving here, if they don’t get snapped up by visiting executives and offered jobs as air stewardesses (which is what happened to a few of the girls last year).
Elephant Bar – Marriott Resort on the other side of the river, views of over 11 acres of tropical gardens, great to take a classy girl but not a pick-up spot
Angels in Nana Hotel – see night club section later for comments (but this place is wall to wall P4P)
Interesting Bars:
Pollys - Lang Suan Soi 7 (very trendy)
Hu’u – Ascot Sathon Rd Silom (also very trendy)
Escobar – Ekamai
Ice Bar – Thong-Lo
Lullabar – Out near Khao San Rd (1 Soi Mahannop1 Mahannop Rd. Pranakorn – near Democracy Monument and close to Democ) great live music
Astro Bar – Sukhumvit Soi 16 (opposite Mayfair Hotel) is full of 1950s artifacts
Barber Bar – Soi Sarasin (Opp Lumpini near Lang Suan) – also Brown Sugar and Around Midnight bars in the same area
Koi restaurant bar – on Sukhumvit Soi 20 (Tuesday and Thursday nights is model night with plenty of young ladies from S. America, Southern Europe)
Crystal Lounge – Sukhumvit Soi 20, a crystal jewelry store by day, cocktail bar by night. Very hi-so.
Bars with a view:
An exception to my two rules at the start of this section of the guide, but worth mentioning as great places to take a classy Thai date (not that girl you just picked up at Angels disco…):
Vertigo – on top of the Banyan Tree on South Sathon Rd.
Distil - in Silom on top of the Le Bua State Tower, a 63 story building near the Shangri-La Hotel. This is a very impressive bar.
Zeta bar – on top of the Hilton Millennium, across the river
Baiyoke Sky Bar - on the 83rd floor of the tallest building in Thailand
V9 – at the Sofitel Silom on the 37th floor and quite popular
Model Nights:
Several clubs/bars in Bangkok host special ‘model nights’ on certain evenings each week. If you are a registered model in Thailand (and can show your model card) you will receive free drinks. Obviously the theory is that wherever cute models go, so will the crowds. I’m not sure this strategy is working, since all I see at models nights are young male models picking up female models.
Flava at Dream Hotel - Friday/Saturday
Groove Kitchen (Ana’s Garden) in Ekamai - Sunday
Koi on Sukhumvit Soi 20 - Tuesday/Thursday
Bed Supperclub on Sukhumvit Soi 11 - Wednesday
Escudo on Thong-Lo - Thursday
Night Clubs:
QBar - on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Seems to be in a bit of a decline, with the wrong ratios on many evenings now (too many guys for the girls) and even the working girls that hang out here are nothing special. It is very small, very expensive, and on some nights they just play absolute crap music.
Bed Supperclub – Sukhumvit Soi 11. Very stylish, very few working girls.
Santika – Ekamai near Soi 9. Just a great club, packed most nights. No P4P, but if you look OK the girls can be friendly and numbers exchanged.
Glow - Sukhumvit Soi 23 area - down a bit of a side alley, close to Narcissus. Never understood why this club is not more busy – great music, tremendous layout and décor, coyote dancing on the bar, friendly staff, but very few customers.
Hard Rock – Siam Square. Not so much a night club as a restaurant/bar, but late in the evening there are good bands and a fun atmosphere. Full of working girls and P4P.
Concept CM2 – Novotel Hotel in Siam Square. A very busy club filled every night with working girls, some from outside of Thailand (see earlier on Hotel bars/clubs). This is a major P4P club in the city for freelancers, but has an increasingly dodgy South Asian and Middle Eastern clientele these days.
Nana Hotel (Angels Disco) – Soi Nana on Sukhumvit. Goes quite late, and packed with working girls of varying looks. A highly reliable pick up spot for P4P.
Lucifers – Patpong I is a bit hit and miss.
Funky Dojo – Patpong II
G.O.D. – Patpong II/1
Lava – on Khao San Road. Cute bar staff but dodgy clients.
Café Democ - near Khao San Rd at the Democracy Monument
Sin Club – Soi Nana (Sukhumvit Soi 4) down about 100 metres from Nana Plaza on the right. Goes late some nights.
Slim/Flix – on RCA with no P4P and young, mostly Thai crowd
Jazzit – on RCA
Club Culture – reasonably new club, near Phaya Thai BTS on Sri Ayuthaya Rd (opp Siam City Hotel) and run by the same people who managed Club Astra on RCA which is now closed but was a very popular dance spot. Popular with hard core dancing crowd.
Narcissus – Sukhimvit Soi 23 area
Groove Kitchen at Ana’s Garden – Thong-Lo Soi 3
Tapa’s (or Tapaz) – Silom Soi 4
The Club – Khao San Rd
Other Night Clubs:
These are clubs which can be less friendly towards tourists and foreigners. They usually ask for passport ID to gain entrance, and there are very few if any farangs in these places most nights.
Escudo – Thong-Lo (near Soi 11-13)
Booze – Thong-Lo Soi 10 near Ekkamai
Gigabyte – Next to Booze
Nung Len – Ekamai
WeZa – Ekamai just past Soi 21
Route 66, Prop bar and a few others in RCA
Been to CM2 in may 07. Agree alot of freelancers there. Russians etc asking 6000 to 7000. Way too much considering local all night for 3000 from Soi33. dont understand why you mention too many customers from India and miidleeast. Went there 3 times and there was a varied mix. I would say more farrangs then others. Shame it shuts at 2am

I love CM2… didnt notice too many types of other men.. dont go there to look at them! but there is a great mixture… Prices range from 3000 to 8000… Asked by a Hungarian for 8000 and in broken english she promised it would be the time of my life.. I declined. Ukraine girl asked the same price .. she was a honey, but too much…
The highest quoted from a TG was 6000.. she was a hotty but not that hot..watch out for a detailed post later on CM2

3-4 years ago there used to be an ‘Arab Quarter’ in CM2 populated by Muslims drinking alcohol and a few ugly Eastern Europeans.
On my visit last weekend, the major part of the bar had been taken over by these white girls, out of which I saw maybe two very good looking ones. Perhaps it was just the vibe on the night, but these girls weren’t smiling much and the happy go lucky madness of drunken Thai freelancers was not really in evidence.
There were a few very beautiful Thai girls but mostly skulking quietly towards the back in the shadows. Not partying at all.
I wasn’t much impressed with the male clientele either, most of whom were middle aged & middle of the road, in large groups at tables with no female company, or sidling rather sleazily up to girls around the periphery.

i never been CM2 but hear such varied reports
i usually find the russians and eastern europans may be beautiful but they are po-faced bastards, and 6-8000 is enough
im sure if you buy her a few drinks and they actually like you, you might get heavy discount or even free
i hear about a lot of south american chicks there too

This might be a bit late in the game, but an update might be in order. Flava @ Dream has a bizarre tango night (I think it’s on Sundays), when I was there a couple of weeks ago it was full of old farangs putting the move (literally) on the lone TG in attendance. I did not see any model night on Friday.
BarSu seems to have a policy against P4P, I did not see anyone approachable when I was there recently.
