editor’s note: This is the first of hopefully a regular series on the blog. I started reading Pattaya Rag a few months back and was impressed with the bar updates, the opinions, and the tech tidbits. So on my last trip to Pattaya I had some beers with Ed and we discussed a regular Pattaya update for the blog. Here is the first rev of it. I think you all all be pleased. This is original content and photos and once again thanks to Ed for working with us on this.

Farang Speaks 2 Much recently ran a fairly detailed review of the main line bars so for my first bar crawl on behalf of FS2M I decided to visit a number of bars that are not normally considered main line bars but are worth a beer or two of your time:
First up is the Buffalo Bar on Third Road. It’s a good example of a quality bar that is successful in spite of it’s out of the way location. The bar is home to around 40 Thai girls and there is some surprising quality amongst their ranks. (Check out staff mugshots here). The bar is pretty basic but with plenty of seating, plenty of fans and a couple of small podiums for go-go dancers. The girls are friendly but will drift away if no LD is forthcoming. The bar has it’s own ST rooms and rumour has it that a trip their will cost 200Baht plus the ladies fee which is negotiable down from 1,000Baht depending upon how hand-sum you are. Note: the mugshots don’t do the girl’s justice. It something I’ve noticed before when photographing Thai girls. They are not the most photogenic race. Beautiful in the flesh, ordinary on film and in this case, I believe the camera does lie.
Next, Champagne Go Go on L.K. Metro, (runs between Soi Diana and Soi Buakhao) is a standard format go-go with an island stage and seating down both walls. The surprise is they have some very attractive ladies on display and the night I was in, the current cover of After Dark magazine was strutting her stuff. Sadly the cover appears to have gone to her very pretty head. I was already enjoying myself when the Mamasan came round with free pizza slices. Delicious. The go-go comes with rooms so if you need to be discrete this is the place for you.
On Walking Street, a current favourite is Casanovy Go Go. As you enter Walking Street from the police box end, Casanovy is on the right immediately after the sea food restaurants. It has a massive centre stage and mini dancing podiums between the seats, on the sidewalls. It’s modeled on Beach Club with the mirrored top tables and ladies minus undercarriage but whereas Beach Club is struggling, Casanovy is booming. What makes this a favourite for me is the large number of attractive and chesty ladies plying their wares in the bar. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the bar is attracting Japanese punters and this is considered seal of excellence for Pattaya bars. Bit like Michelin Stars for a restaurant. Lets call them Yakuzas and in my opinion Casanovy is worth 2 Yakuzas.
As I was in the area, I thought I’d check out a fairly new go-go on Walking Street under the Polo named Magic Palace Go Go. The bar is surprisingly large inside. A bit like Doctor Who’s Tardis. The main stage on your right as you enter is shaped like Samak’s nose. See, I can do bars and read the news at the same time. Clever that. They have a couple of shower units to the back but they weren’t in service whilst I was there. What struck me about the bar is they have a large number of ladies but lookers were in short supply. What did strike me was the staff are mostly farm fresh, lacking in dress and makeup sense. This might appeal to some, particularly if you like ladies a bit rough around the edges and sitting with legs akimbo……. Please bear in mind a bar that looks average one night can be stunning the next when the stars are in the bar. It’s all a question of timing when it comes to bar reviews.
Now for something completely different. I’d worked up an appetite by the end of the night so I thought I’d try the Electric Blue sandwich bar in Soi Diamond. The food is surprisingly good and the Electric Blue backers look to have a winner on their hands here if the number of customers I saw is anything to go by. I had a burgher for about 99Baht and it was meaty, tasty and filling. Great value. Anything’s got to be better than the health hazards on spits (aka kebabs) they have on Walking Street.
Other news:
- Misty’s Go Go in Soi Pattayaland 2 will close it’s doors in 8 weeks time after 12 years in Pattayaland. They will relocate to Soi 15 Walking Street, opposite Angelwitch. No reason has been given but it’s more likely to be the growing influence of boys bars in to Pattayaland than any rental issues.
- It’s Chinese New Year and Pattaya bar keeps are hoping for a surge in mongers from Asian countries. It was a poor high season so they’ll take anything they can get to add to the coffers to see them through the long, (and growing longer) low season
- Pattaya Women’s Open Tennis Tournament is being held at the Dusit Thani Hotel from Feb 2 - 10.

Ed: Nice start and it’s great to have someone providing up-to-date information on Fun Town. I avoid Pattaya in high season (too many farang idiots) but will be resuming regular weekend trips next month.
I checked out Buffalo Bar on my last trip before Xmas and was impressed…decent line-up, good music and a no-hassle atmosphere. The nearby Cherry Restaurant on Third Road is a great place to start the night. It serves seriously good food at reasonable prices, but get there early because it can be difficult to get a table after 7.30pm without a reservation.

If you’d been there this high season you would have been suprised just how quiet it was, more akin to summer trade. A friend from Happy told me that its mostly down to few Americans making the trip and I think I only spoke to one over the Holiday season and that was in Simon Beer.
The place was only really busy for the New Years Eve weekend and that was mostly from the food tables they put down the middle of walking street and the increase of rubber-neckers strolling up and down. Traffic was insane that weekend so I presume mostly people from upcountry or Bangkok down to celebrate.
Magic Palace is a strange place and the girls are indeed fresh from the farm, a few new recruits from Buriram were herded into there by a former Angelwitch dancer over the Holidays, it usually seems quiet and apparently they get Thai customers in also. The shower cubicles were in action during my visit but only as novelty coyote podiums - no water/skin action. The girls weren’t making much money so I don’t know how long it’ll last.
Rumor has it that if you’re not shy you don’t even need to use a room in Champagne Go Go. Similar experience can be had at Beavers on Walking street although the women are of a lesser standard.

Cherry Restaurant is all you say and you’ve given me an idea for a future post. I’ll list the joints like Cherry that serve quality food for a fair price. It’ll make a change from listing girls numbers in the top go gos. Has anybody seen No 87 in Peppermint yet???

I did try to get into convo with the Champagne cover girl but her time was clearly reserved for the hand sum young things in the bar. For sure there are better lookers even in Champagne but it would be nice to get a photo of her in bed holding the mag. Sad I know but I once had a friend achieve that in Cancun, Mexico with a Playboy centre fold and he’s held it over me ever since. Times running out…..

The Classroom Gogo on soi2 just of second road has some serious gems.
Also the Silver Star gogo on soi 7 has a girl with ‘Fuck Me’ tattooed on her fanny.Shes not the prettiest but the novelty is not to be underestimated. I didn’t bar fine her and hate myself for it.

On my last visit to Pattaya in December I found that there was one go go bar where for the price of 2 lady drinks the girls will openly get out your weenie and suck it whilst you are sitting beside the stage.
The manager, mamasan and other girls were walking around whilst this was going on, seemingly oblivious.
I thought it was a fluke but on subsequent trips to the bar I saw guys with the ‘thank you buddha’ look on face whilst the girls would be taking sips from their drinks then their heads would disappear down again.
Now where was this place again…

MP: As mentioned this is known to happen in Beavers on Walking Street and Champagne agogo on Soi LK Metro although I’m pretty sure it’ll be available elsewhere.

Yes, I have. Been with her twice too. She is real and she’s spectacular.
I’ve been reading through past postings on your site (good stuff btw) and was amused to see her mentioned several times because I’d recently cited her as ‘evidence’ in a private Peppermint versus Superbaby debate I was having with someone. As the lady told you, she is indeed special. Peppermint’s got a lot of cute girls - number #11, #403.. the list could go on - but once #87 comes on stage, she’s the one who turns the punter’s heads. I’ve seen her milk 6 or 7 tipping guys while the other girls get practically nothing. She’s very professional about it. In fact, it’s almost a pleasure to watch her work!
Sorry, I haven’t got a photo. Or a phone number (damn, I should have asked her for that!) Description: small but not tiny, biggish natural tits for her frame (I noticed her first from the jiggling), flawless body (no tattoos) and pretty face. Not an Isaan face (she’s from around Chonburi).

She had some time off and came back for a while as #84. She’d been gone so long that her number had been given to some new girl (who looked distinctly average, which must have confused the hell out of all the Pattaya Rag readers going to see #87!)
She told me she’s now retiring to a more ‘normal’ job.
Recently I went with another girl in Peppermint who spoke of her like as if she were some sort of mythical figure.
“She doesn’t talk with anybody” (this is true. She doesn’t even talk with the other girls - only to customers)
“She gets barfined in 1 song.”
“She gets 3000/4000 short-time. A girl heard.”
So ends another numerical legend. #33 Dollhouse, #87 Peppermint… Are there any more?
