It’s Christmas/New Year’s week in Pattaya and while the tourist numbers are down, the usual Ibiza Protozoa have found their way here, dropping their pants on Walking Street, dancing on stage with the go-go girls and getting into fights in the discos. So, with my 44th birthday coming up Tuesday, I needed a new place to party.
After an exhaustive search, I settled on The Big Mango. And, to make sure I wouldn’t be celebrating alone, I’ve decided to give you a gift, in the form of free beer. That’s right, Dec. 30 enjoy pints of Tiger draft on me from 7 -11 p.m. or until two kegs are drunk dry. There’s some more goodies on tap too.
While beer does have its own nutritional value, it also goes pretty well with burgers. I’m partial to The Mango’s California Burger, with its healthy serving of guacamole. So SideshowBOB is putting the burger on special as well at 165 baht with fries (or chips, if you prefer, I guess.)
If you’re wondering why I have to bribe people to attend my birthday party, it’s not because I don’t have any friends (really), it’s simply that Dec. 30 is a pretty inconvenient time to get smashed, what with New Year’s Eve being the next night. So, be brave and tough it out for two nights in a row.
This is my first birthday in Bangkok and the first in Thailand in three years, so come on out and help make it more exciting than last year, when I went to Bingo with my 65-year-old mother in Phoenix. (Bingo would have been cool had I won the $2,500 jackpot, but I came up one number short…)
So, if you’re around Thailand, make your way over to Soi 4 and meet up with The Ghost, Sideshow, pmmp and some other bloggers you might or might not have met. Everyone’s welcome, (except you Pattaya bar owners). After a few Tigers, I might actually be able to come up with a plausible excuse why I’m still writing for the blog when I had said I’d retired.
Oh, and speaking of that, I’ve got 3,200 words on bargirls, sponsors and Isaan mothers queued up for publication Monday.
So I’m sitting in Happy a couple of nights ago, when four young men jump on stage naked, clearing the girls off the stage.They dance a little then leave, girls back on the stage. Ok it’s over right… On my way out those same gentelman are sitting at one of the beer bars outside naked having a beer. Thinking my pattaya days are numbered….

way to go ghost, dont know what is a better deal , the free beer or the coming 3200 word fiesta. well since im not in thailand right now i think ill have to wait for monday and settle for the latter. have a good bday mate. cheers !!!
