I get confused sometimes why people are so quick to judge how others feel about a particular experience in the land of vertical smiles. What I mean by this is how someone may think that if one spends more than the going rate at S. Botan to get laid than one has paid too much. Rubbish. I have been to S. Botan 3 times. 1 time was amazing, 1 time was okay and the last time was regrettable.
Let’s be brutally honest - the massage at Botan is a joke. It is a knocking shop with good value. I am a lazy mother fo from time to time. Sometimes I want to relax, get a decent massage, get the real ball massage and get some sort of release. I am willing to pay money for that - not a ton of money but I think most places with Ball Massage on the menu offer a pretty good value. If you think this is a all waste of time then read no further. Save me the pithy comments and the - my nana parking lot shag is only 1000 baht and she rubs my nuts too. It is not the same folks and I won’t bother wasting my breath explaining why. So there I was the other night on Suk 31 flogging the streets for durianseed and I happened by Orchid Massage. Of course I had to try it.
For more history on Ball Massage you can read the first post we ever did on it and the one BBK did as well. I have dug around a bit on the net and have yet to find a nice comprehensive background on ball massage, but if someone knows of one please bang it into the comments. Thailand is an amazing country when it comes to the value around anything massage related. One could always take the simple massage concept further and hit a soapy for some solid p4p action. The soapies are everywhere. I have to say though that generally the massage at the soapy is non-existent. Usually it is some tub action, some pathetic form of a rubdown and then sex. Not complaining at all. I am a big fan of Victoria but I don’t go for the massage.
The other topic I don’t understand is why people say that ball massage with some payment for release is a bad value for the money. If you don’t value the massage element then maybe it is not but I do and I think as well as many others. So let’s look at the numbers. I go to S. Botan and I pay 1000 baht for a dirty room, no massage and sex. Okay. It works. I could go to Victoria and pay 1500-2000 baht for the same thing but for a nice room, a tub I can fit in and generally better service. Should I never go to Victoria because Botan is cheaper? I don’t think so. Let’s compare it to a go-go. I go in for say 1 drink and 1 lady drink. That is what already - 250 baht? I pay bar. 600 baht. Say 1500 for shortime. That is the going rate so let’s not argue it. Then 300 baht for a lame ass room. 250+600+1500+300 =2650. Add in the lack of descretion, the lack of massage and generally not the greatest service and it looks like a raw deal for the most part. Now some of you will say I don’t pay bar or I go with freelancers but that is not the point here. We are talking about the general routes and I still would like a massage out of this.
So let’s take Orchid Massage. Nice and discreet. No walk of shame. No mamasans doing the arm wave. No Thai guys around and an air of service - genuine service. I order the 1.5 hour ball massage. 800 baht. Room decent but not as good as the soapies. Service good. Good massage - the only thing that might make it better would be real massage tables. I don’t get the lack of using a real massage table with the hole for your face. Hell they could custom make them. My maintenance guy can rewire a stereo with paper clips. He can re- plumb a building with dental floss and straws. For sure they could get custom massage tables made that were low slung, had the face hole and still could be used for banging. Other than that - the massage is good. I felt relaxed.
Then the girl, the one I picked from the picture book who was not exactly like the picture but was cute, polite and talkative. Note the politeness. It goes a long way. So she flips me into the ball massage position. Which is my legs spread and draped over her legs while she puts the meat and potatoes into comfortable reach of her capable hands. Then she starts kneading my balls, the area around them and throws in an occasional double handed pole slide. Folks - you can’t jek yourself off as good as they can with the double handed technique. However she is not jerking me off - she is performing a ball massage. Hard to explain unless you had one but it is different and you are put into a half state of arousal that is quite enjoyable.
Unlike BBK - I don’t work out ahead of time what kind of release I want, how much I will pay her and so on. I like surprises. Life is too short for everything to be planned out. I like to see how the girl plays it and how I feel about how she plays it. So I play dumb and let her talk me into what she thinks is best for me. So with the ball massage almost complete she asks if I am interested in the specials. I usually do this whole banter in Thai. What specials I ask. I love how girls explain the options with the shy ones using all the polite words and the not so shy ones using the blunt terms. I personally like the shyer girls. So typically you get the hand job option, some form of body to body option, maybe the blow job and of course sex.
This girl was from Chiang Rai, more on this another day but Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai girls have amazing breasts, and was the shy type. So it took her some time to explain it all but this just makes it more fun. So she assumed I would settle on the sex but I said a HJ would be fine. She was bummed out a bit since the best money option for her is sex but I like toying with them. So she starts on the HJ and I quicky say - how about body to body. She smiles, gets naked (love watching them undress), and oils up her boobs for maximum leverage. She starts the body to body action and I let it go on but try my hardest not to pearl necklace her.
Then just when it is too much I say how about the sex? Of course she is naked, oiled and worked up thinking there was no sex. Perfect. She slides the condom on and rides me to her satisfaction. Then I flip her over and take care of my business. Then we lay together oiled up to catch our breath. So in the end the same thing happens but it took over 1.5 hours to get there. She had fun. I had fun. The massage was great. The foreplay was great and the after shower together turned into a little make out session. Watching her dress gave me a shot to get the money out - 1500 baht and to get her phone number.
So all in. 2300 baht. Massage, ball massage, sex, good service, discretion, phone number and no hassles. I think a pretty good value all in all. Plus another phone number and another connection. Thailand rules. No matter how you slice there is something here for everyone. Isn’t that the point?
I shall be back to Orchid. I will add that I think the girls at Ogoto also provide a similar service but the rooms are not as good and it is a little more expensive. So Orchid may be the better play between the two but Ogoto is not bad either.
The standard rate for a ST in cowboy and nana is THB 2000, that you can sometimes discount to THB 1500. I’m positive and I’m ready to go and check together with anyone who pretends it is less than that (i’m talking about the average girl here, not the ugly one, not the one you already paid 5 drinks, etc.).
Theferore, on a financial point of view, the massage is a better deal, and very often a very good service.
I’m not a big fan of ball massages though, i’d rather go for the special, whatever the girl starts with (ball massage, sex massage, body body…)

suk - you are right. As u can see I am not doing the go-go thing much. So in my example add 500 baht to 2650 and now we are talking 3150. Looks even worse all in all.

I like the ball massage as well. I like Teen 1, 2, or 3 on soi 33. I usually go in the late afternoon, around 5 or 6 pm as the girl selection is best. I usually bypass the picture book and ask to see the ladies. The Mamasan Blows a whistle, and about 15 or more Thai girls come flurriying in various state of surprise. I make my selection, and get led upstairs to a small but ample room with a massage mat, shower and Air Con. My Thai launguage skill is somewhat minimal, but can speak just enough to get by, and break the ice a bit. = This Helps Alot! I like to negotiate the service and cost upfront, but your mileage may vary. I start by offering them 1000 baht extra for Boom Boom, but will go up to 1500 if she is cute and friendly. If you say nothing, she will get you all excited, massaging your privates, then try and upsell you when your vulnerable. She will usually start by asking 2000, sometimes 2500 but are almost always negotiable. The more friendly you are the better. I like the 1 hour ball massage wich is currently 500 baht including the room. I can usually have a great time, for as low as 1500 - 2000 baht. The ball massage is not for everybody, those who are extra sensative may not like the press and release around your pelvic area, But done propely the Ball massage is very enjoyable.

I went to Orchid yesterday after not having been for 6 months.
The three girls I normally pick were on vacation so I had a chance to flip through the pic book.
I noticed that they had fewer girls in the book than at my last visit. Not sure whether the lineup is degrading or not.
I did ask my girl a couple of questions about the ball massage training and she said it takes a week to go through the training to be trained in ball massage. Not sure what they cover for a whole week. It would be interesting to look at the curriculum—assuming it is written down anywhere.
Like you say it is up to you how enjoy your massage.
Everyone is different and there is no correct way. Whatever you enjoy is the correct way, but here are a couple of tips and a script that is good for the Orchid newbie.
First, ask for the picture book.
When you go through the book there is a table next to each girl’s picture that tells you what she is good at-ball massage, mouth, speaks English etc. You should take the ratings with a grain of salt. They are not always that accurate.
There will be a sticker of a star on the page if the girl is not working that day.
The legends are in Japanese so ask the mamasan which symbol means they are excellent, good, or not qualified for the ball massage. Unlike farangs places, the mamasan is not there to pester or rip you off. She will politely explain everything to you and be very happy to do so.
Second, when you get to the room let the girl give you the shower.
This is standard at most Japanese places but with a farang, the girl might not initiate this. If you let her know you want her to soap you up she will be down for it.
When she does soap you up be prepared to be soaped everywhere—including your ass crack. Maybe it is the Japanese fixation on cleanliness or just that the girl wants to make sure that you are clean in the places that matter to her but she will wash EVERYWHERE—including some Listerine to wash out your mouth.
Third, if you want full service let her know at the beginning. You will be able to get her to do so much more if she knows she is going to get paid.
Once the girl knows she is going to get the 1500 THB full service fee, she will be down for pretty much anything you ask.
Fourth, take charge of the agenda and change it suit your tastes.
The standard routine is for a 75 minute oil massage, a 15 minute ball massage, and 30 minutes left over for the specials.
The girl strips down to her underwear and a towel until the specials. If you just get the hand, the towel stays on.
What I like to do if I want full service is tell the girl upfront and change the agenda.
I usually request that she to toss the underwear and towel and strip down naked for the whole two hours.
Next I request a 30 minute oil massage and a double ball massage, and leave the remaining hour for the specials.
The ball massage is actually a routine that has a beginning and end with several intermediate phases that are performed in sequence. I usually request the whole routine twice. You can’t be too healthy.
If there is a particular phase you like, request that she linger on that stage longer.
After that what you want the girl to do is up to you and her.
You can request hand, a body massage where she oils herself up and slithers all over you like a snake, you can bang her in any number of ways etc.
You can also tell her you want to satisfy yourself twice once with the hand and once the traditional way, etc. etc. etc.
Within reasonable limits, if the girl knows she is getting the full service fee she is amenable.
Afterwards, she will take you into the shower, soap you up, and wash
all the oil off.
She will also follow you downstairs to the lobby, help you put your shoes back on, and bow politely when you leave.
Finally, you can get the girls number but you can also call the Orchid and have the girl delivered to your place during business hours.
It only costs an additional 150 THB for the girl to come to your place rather than visiting the Orchid.

@BBK - good call about telling the girl up front what you are going to want as opposed to Smitty’s idea of keeping her guessing. Certainly the times that I have received a somewhat detached service at the beginning of a session it has always been where I have not yet set the agenda. The minute you make it clear that you are game for a full service they become more invigorated and, frankly, more friendly.
Don’t forget folks that it is quite possible that they will get customers from time to time who just want a massage and if they suggest anything more the gent in question could get annoyed and the loss of face for her would be terrible. So telling her up front relaxes her and a more relaxed girl does a better job.

Good call on the value vs. cost aspect. The same could be said about many things in Thailand. Be it hotel rooms, meal prices, girls, or whatever you can always be sure that there’s someone who will tell you it can be had cheaper. But cost is not the only determination of value.
BTW, based on BBK’s previous review of Orchid I gave it a shot when I was there in April/May. I have to say it was very relaxing. It’s certainly a break from the norm. I thought it was worth every baht.

Different strokes (pun intended obviously) for different folks. I have always enjoyed the go go bars whereas I find the massage experience somewhat clinical. It may just be the illusion of the chase. That’s me.

Wombat - do you find 2,000 is happily accepted by girls from the Rainbow bars, Baccara and the other top-drawer gogos? In my experience they will always ask for 3,000 (sometimes more) and an offer of 2,000 is usually met with sulks or tears. Not the way I like to end an enjoyable LT.

Interesting post. In my various visits to LoS I have had girls from go go bars, loads of different massage places and soapies, and a couple of freelancers. Never had a ball massage though but like the sound of it - a must try for next visit.
I tend to agree with Young Royal - massage is for day time but beers and bar girls are for the evening. When wanting a massage I sometimes go to places which, on the surface at least, are not knocking shops. There I usually leave negotiations about extras until well into the session so during the massage I enjoy not knowing if the girl is going to raise the issue and if so, how she is (usually involves “accidental” touching - can tell by the form and frequency what is likely ot be on offer). I must be one sick puppy but the not being sure increases the excitement for me.
At the MP that are well known for extras, I find up front negotiations does tend to make for a better overall service, especially on the massage part itself.
However, in my experience, the quality of service depends upon how I feel and largely on how much effort I make to be friendly to the girl. I have limited Thai but even a small effort to speak the language usually results in improved service, but the key is definitely a smile or even better something to make the girl laugh.
Reading the various blogs on this site sure makes me miss Thailand.

in march i barfined about 5 girls from different gogos, each for 1200 bt ST.
