We’re Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Before I explain the title, let me first make sure you are all familiar with the history:

Post #1, Post #2, Post #3, Post #4, Post #5

We won’t go into too much detail but we will confirm that we have signed a new lease for a new location somewhere in the lower Sukhumvit quadrant. As we get closer to the opening date we will leak out more details but for now, rest assured - the Big Mango Bar will rise again.

We have created a forum thread for users to leave their ideas and suggestions for the new bar.

Stay tuned!

This is great news! Definitely a good reason for my return trip to Thailand. I don’t have any ideas yet, since I felt that you had a pretty good winning formula back at NEP. Great staff & management, good selection of food and nice pool tables. Keep up the great work and hope you guys get to finalize the deal soon. This made my day.

Congrats Chaps - Unless you are VERY quick ’shopfitters’ (and bringing ’sods law’ into the equation) I suspect you will be opening just as I go back to Blighty - never mind, there is always next time

thanks all for the kudos. We won’t be discussing any opening dates at this time but we are doing are best to get open as quick as we can but this is Thailand.

I am excited to visit your bar once it opens - have never been to your old place. I am curious about the location. I agree, neither Nana nor Cowboy are really
growing or developing into the right direction. Still it might be a tough challenge in the beginning to pick a different spot that is not that popular yet. I wish you all the best.

    Location, location, location…..

Hope you have a good spot this time, the last one was too inconvenient to make it a regular bar for me. I only went a couple of times.

Lower Suk needs a decent after work bar where stock brokers can have a couple of cold ones to unwind after a stressful day.

Congrats, looking forward to the re-opening party, and have a new bottle of Wild Turker ready. Will you have a sofa for me when I pass out? No worries, just slide me under the bar.

Location is important for any sales business, but having a loyal customer base can mitigate the negative effects of having a slightly out of the way locale. Few Bkk bar/pubs have a regular customer base that can rival yours.

Will I be able to leave my bag in the office?

Will Hair Pie be on the menu?

Will there be paper for the toilet?

Will 3B be able to bring his mum?

Will you have a non-working escalator to the front door installed? (I always liked that feature).

Can we have little brass plaques with our names on on the bar?

Will there be knitted coasters, like at the Madrid Bar?

Will you arrange (once again) to have your Grand Celebratory Opening Extravaganza (FREE! ALL THE ONION RINGS YOU CAN THREAD ONTO YOUR COCK!!) on a night when I’m out of town?

sandman: not sure which one you are talking about, do you remember a name? Many of them were tatt’d up. I know where many of the girls ended up but can ask around about one that I don’t know.

As an update, a few are still at Charming Bar, Apple is door girl at Spice Girls. Mam is back from Singapore but not sure where she is going to work. Little Ae is at Baccara upstairs and her sister Nung who used to work at the Mango a while back starts again in Baccara a few weeks from now. Tong, the cashier, is working Dollhouse as a dancer. Tu, ex-cashier, is working the Duke of Wellington as a waitress. Nid, down in Pattaya until the new Mango opens. Oh, moving around a bit and waiting for the new Mango to open.

You can always ask any of the girls where somebody is working. They seem to keep in touch about this stuff.

“does the mango have real club houses. Real chicken real bacon. No god damn egg or mystery meat. I dont see garbage ass sandwich type chicken meat any where else in the country except on a club house, its hard to believe a restaurant would by it for just that purpose. A north american style club house is my hang over cure and finding one in bkk has been a failure so far.”

The truth about pmmp is out…

I was at the Charming Bar Sunday night and found out why all the ex BM girls want to go back. While pmmp likes to portray himself as the tough boss completely in control of his business and his staff, apparently he is just a real soft touch (bit like me really so must be a good thing!). Disappointing to find out you really are the nice guy you pretend to be.

Back in May, in time for the opening I hope. See you then..

dave - it is all about respect really. We respect the girls and they seem to like working with us. However if they cross that line they get fired. On the spot. I am sure they forget those stories but it happened. Managing employees is tough - especially in Thailand but it can be done.

Actually pmmp is the bad ass. I am the softie. U should of heard him explain to the ex-cook what they do to people who steal in Italy.

I never mention my p4p exploits in Thailand when I go back home. In fact I paint a real clean image of the country. Your families must know about you running a bar in Bangkok. How do you look your mother in the eyes knowing that she could have read about the things you do at night??

ym: Much like the rest of the world outside Thailand my family can’t really conceive of what I am doing here so no point in trying to explain it.

Before I came to SE Asia and Thailand I was in this category as well. Smitty used to come by and tell me about Thailand and I just didn’t believe a place like this could exist (turns out he was leaving much of the really good stuff out as well which would have made it too unbelieveable)

The US in particular gets fed certain data about Thailand, like the ping-pong shows, smoke out of the pussy shows, rampant with whores and disease, tsunami’s, and it’s a sanctuary for pedophiles…so that’s what you think it is. Beyond that even, the sexual offerings are just not the same as in the US so you really can’t believe they even exist.

What I’m trying to say is that it’s beyond their comprehension as it was mine not too long ago. Besides that, my parents are pretty old school. Mom has yet to surf a web page and dad is barely using email. When I moved to New Mexico from NY my mother thought I was leaving the country. She’s also a Church and Bingo gal so trying to explain Rainbow Bed or Freebird or what a Beer Bar is to mom would be pointless.

You know, YM has a point. I think you guys should feel a little ashamed of yourselves, getting up to what you do, and having a bar filled with hookers.

Do you guys have no morals?

Is it only YM and myself that live a life that is as pure as the driven snow?

I hope you guys seek forgiveness for your sins on a weekly (pmmp-daily) basis.

    :)

yes - my parents know very little. I told them for 2 years I was only going to Thai school. When I would go home I would eat at Thai joints and order in Thai so they were happy. When I brought them here I showed them a bkk devoid of Sukhumvit, Silom and all naughty nightlife. I see no point in making them worry or think something other than what they may think. I guess it is just the way it is.

The other stuff I work on outside of the nightlife I talk to them about.

strange life but what can I do?

Given I ruined pmmp as well - I have a big cross to bear.

I won’t even get into my background since where I came from and how I got hear don’ match up all that well.

    dw - I am good compared to u. :)

Smitty, only telling it the way it was told to me…

As for Patpong, stay away from Queens Castle 3. A lady friend from Vietnam wanted to see the show so I took her to QC3 where I have been before with no problems. I ordered a beer and she a Coke. After watching the show for about 20 minutes the bill was brought to me (without asking) and was for 2200 baht. 400 for drinks (I expected to be charged for drinks but 200 for a Coke?), 800 for 2 lady drinks that I never agreed to and 1000 for the ’show fee’ despite the touts outside guaranteeing there was no cover charge. Considering the company I was with, I didn’t want any trouble and ended up paying the show fee (OK, I’m a wimp) but not the lady drinks. Needless to say I will never, ever go back to any bar in Patpong. Don’t they know they are cutting their own throats or can’t they think beyond today? Their loss…
