Cruised into Nana Plaza the other night for the first time since we moved the Big Mango Bar out. Met a friend at Rainbow 4. The lineup was top notch but I’ve never seen R4 so empty. There were about 10 customers in the place and the girls were actually trying to solicit my business, unheard of. Headed to Mandarin next. This is currently my favorite in Nana. Just one or two empty seats and the lineup was impressive and energetic. The music always kicks ass in the place, over other GoGo’s that is.
Poked my head into G-spot next and they had no customers, zero. Upstairs to Hollywood, zero customers also. I’m not kidding, zero. Over to Carousel. There were about 10-15 customer so not bad and they seemed to have turned on the aircon’s again. It was around 12:30 and they were still doing their lesbian shower shows. The girls looked bored but I never tire from watching two girls taking a shower together. Also met another one of Smitty’s harem pining away for him. Not an unusual occurence but happens less frequently than when I’m on Cowboy so I’m thankful for that.
On to Erotica. Oh how far this place has fallen. They don’t use upstairs anymore and downstairs is filthy. I almost hurled when I went to drink my vodka/coke and the rim of the glass was sticky. I think from lipstick. Uak. However, they did have 2 or 3 tiny and young spinners, albeit with attitude, and overall the lineup wasn’t too bad. About eight customers and no sense of order in the place otherwise.
That’s all I could stand of Nana. The usual contingent of Thai guys that set up table every night near the still broken escalator were shooting off bottle rockets to celebrate Loy Krathong which was still a week away (Saturday, Nov. 24). These hooligans have always been a thorn in my side. They get drunk and sometimes have a little bbq right in the middle of the plaza’s first floor. Management ignores them and the other owner’s could care less. The one benefit however they did provide was security. If we ever had a problem our security guy would call them in to back him up. Nonetheless, they should keep out of site imho. Shooting bottle rockets in the plaza could get someone hurt or could cause a fire in a place that is already pretty flammable.
After Hours time so over to Spice Club on Suk Soi 11. It was around 2am and this place was already 70% full on a weekday night, amazing. It continued to jump until around 5:00am when I left. They close at 6am pretty consistently now. I have to say that this place is now the number one After Hours destination (except on Fri and Sat when it’s just too packed and too many guys). High energy and loaded with puss they are cranking on all cylinders.
In a sad After Hours note, I met the former bartender from Tequila Dragon on Suk Soi 7/1. He started working at Spice just a week ago and confirmed that Tequila Dragon is now closed After Hours. When Spice opened it was pretty much a death blow for TD. I had many a fun night at TD and the owner (the wife that is) is a good friend and I wish her the best.
After Spice it was on to Lucky which was jumping and had a nice selection of ladies available. Just a note about Lucky, some of the girls here are “users” so be careful if that’s not your scene. With them upgrading a bit with a 300bath/free drink cover and having a few coyote dancers it’s now starting to get a more diverse crowd but the drug scene is still there.
In other news, BBB told me about a new trend that has recently hit the streets. Tinsil in the hair. Sure enough it’s spreading like wildfire with about 1 in 10 working girls now sporting the new look. I’m so envious.

Rainbow IV Update.
Last night, there was a smaller than usual number of dancers and about a “normal” number of customers (maybe a few more than “normal”; a lot of yippun).
Scarily, I saw some fat dancers there; quality slippage.
This was counterbalanced by the fact that my three favorites (Joi, Neung, Nit) were dancing so that was cool.
High season IS upon us. Just check the Landmark cafe.
And no, sadly, it’s not the golden age of the girl scene in Thailand.
That was, and I guess always will have been, the years after the 97 crash when the ONLY way for a lot of girls (and I mean cute, young girls) to survive and support their families was to hit Nana and Pattaya.

hanuman: Kai stopped working at the Mango a month or two before we closed. She’s has at least one sponsor and didn’t really need to work at the Mango. She stays in a nicer place than I do btw. So, I don’t expect to see her working in a bar. Freelance maybe.
bbk: Could have been a weird night when I went. Even Rainbow 4 was dead, yet when JD went the other night it was ‘normal’ again. Basically, that is the difference betw high and low season. In high season there are less dead nights. As we now approach the high of high season the dead nights are becoming less and less. I still don’t think Nana will be as high as previous years but will certainly attract them still. I will leave the Golden Age debate to other’s. All I know is it looks pretty damn Golden to me.

Last night I checked out Soi 33, home of the “artist bars” (Monet, Manet, Van Gogh etc) and found the highest barfine I’ve encountered - 2,000B at The Office.
And that’s not an all-inclusive price, just the payment to the bar.
To clarify: the regular girls who were wearing blue and cream business suits and silk blouses last night are 1,200B a barfine. I talked to a service girl who wanted me to barfine her but the barfine for her, the servers behind the bar, the DJ and the cleaning ladies is 2,000B!
I said I could barfine four girls from Soi Cowboy for that. The little princess said that I could, but the Soi Cowboy girls aren’t clean. The Soi 33 girls look down on the Soi Cowboy girls. Soy Cowboy looks down on Nana Plaza and they all talk bad about Pattaya girls.
The Office was busy with customers - the ambience reminds me of a sports bar in the States - but I only saw two of the girls with customers and 20 sitting around looking bored. I’m not surprised at those prices, but at least they’re clean.

on the tattoo subject. being a man of the ink I have used the guy on soi 8 many times. With all these guys I know what I want and I make them draw it, then I edit it and then when perfect we get the machine out. I find the wong crew to be kind of cocky and hard to deal with.
I suggest the http://www.tatt2dude.com/ in pattaya. Some of the work he is putting online from his thai inkers looks really good. I am planning on working with him on some new stuff. May give him my left leg.

I went to the Charming Bar on Thursday night with another old Big Mango regular to say hi to the girls. While we were there we were entertained by a knock-down, eye-scratching, hair-ripping Siamese Cat-Fight between one of the service girls and a female customer that spilled out the front door, onto the sidewalk and into the street.
Better than Muay Thai!
No Big Mango girls were harmed in the making of this comment.

rob: if you put “charming bar nana” into Google you will get a few sites talking about Charming Bar. Basically, it’s a closet-size bar right next to the Dynasty. There are always 1-2 girls sitting outside. It’s a bit of a dive but the owner’s are pretty nice and they have short-time rooms right upstairs.

Arthur - Agree that Bkk gogo girls desecrate their Pattaya sisters. Just got back from a few days in PattyTown, and our small group unanimously agreed that Pattaya’s pole shiners are generally several notches above the Bkk reps. However, a high pct. of Pattaya girls sport tatts and piercings.

in april i asked a girl in “the office” about why the barfine was so high relative to SC and NEP, and she said the exact same thing” “Soi Cowboy girls aren’t clean.” wonderful little illusion they have going there, i bet they even believe it. probably spoon fed to them by a mammasan.
if the girls were good looking on soi 33, i’d actually pay the higher barfine, thinking, “hot chicks, likely lower mileage.” but i stopped there in april and november this year and they’ve gone way downhill on soi 33 in the last 5 years… lots of really chunky women, especially at Christine’s (sp?). they’re actually much uglier than their SC and NEP counterparts.

honestly don’t know how a big chunk of the mango girls ended up there. My guess is because a girl who stopped work at the mango about 8 months ago ended up there. That would be Ci for all those wondering. Ci was actually our first girl at the mango. We paid her extra to stay cause we had no customers. Ahh - the stories I could write.
Ci - was great though. Good service and was very open to helping the customer. I remember once an older swinging couple from the UK, yes they do that there, came in and had some strange fantasy of a Thai guy banging a Thai girl in the same room as they were banging. Ci offered them a price and they took it. She went and barfined some dude from some private place on Suk Soi 10 and paid him to bang her whilst the UK couple went at it. Everyone was happy. So I think Ci roped them all in to Charming bar.
yes - this whole thing of the girls all thinking they are different than the other girls is the biggest crock in Thailand. UNless they have 3 tits they are all the same if they are selling themselves. Let’s be clear. On the cleanliness thing - not sure what that means really. My only advice to people is remember to be safe and get yourself checked from time to time. The myth that any of these girls are getting checked regularly because they work in a bar is just that - a myth. The good girls take it upon themselves to stay on top of things. Many bars don’t enforce it or check it and it is easy to get the local clinic to fake things. Wrap it up.

FH - A former Big Mango employee, originally from Southern Thailand, has been working in Charming for at least 6 months now. BGs place a high priority on working with friends (often more important than higher earnings), thus Charming drew the others like a magnet. I think a couple already knew the mamasan (boss?) there also. Several of the girls talked about going to work at Mandarin, but that hasn’t happened yet.
IMHO, Soi 33 girls wear nice dresses and play the hostess bit, but (IMHO)are no more attractive than SC and NEP girls, and often have poorer English skills as they usually have less interaction with farangs. I prefer the Soi7 BG and Thermae to any Soi 33 bar, even without the much higher cost factor. PMMP labelled Soi 33 accurately as obsolete.
The Crown Royal, Crystal Palace, and Cosmos on Patpong have a similar concept to the Soi 33 bars.

Thanks for letting us know where the girls went off to. I stopped by Charming last night and met up with Bua, In and Wan. They seemed really excited to see me. They were kind of sad though and lamenting their current situation vs their previous employment. I decided to cheer them up and barfined all three of them and an extra one called Eiw. We went to some club called BED and danced the night away and managed to drink an entire bottle of Chivas. Then off to Spice Club for a while. Then I ended up going with Eiw. Just saw her off a few minutes ago.

f - Lucky is strictly after hours. goes until the sun comes up. A mix of working girls, tourists and anyone who is still no the prowl after tunnel, spice, and spicy have died down.
I forget the street name - somewhere off of petch but all the taxis and tuk-tuks know the place. lucky club.
only pay the meter since I think they get a kickback for taking u there.

That tatt2dude.com smitty mentioned has some great stuff and i heard nothing but good reviews on him, and im booked in for a full arm/back/chest aztec sleeve for early next year. 2000baht an hour for custom stuff

My next trip will surely not lead me to Phuket again, but rather mainly Bangkok and maybe Huahin (I always need some days at the sea) or.. Pattaya/Jomtien. My priciples of not spending time there seem to slowly deteriorate. And for the tatt2dude, it might be worth it… and the price sounds ok for me. Will eventually contact him prior to my next trip.
