I am always looking for new places to grab some food. I think we are amazingly blessed to have so many eateries in Bangkok at so many different price levels. I love Italian food so I was cruising Sukhumvit last night and out of the corner of my eye saw Pizza Aroy. I am sure someone mentioned the place to me before but I had to try it out. Tasty stuff!
It is a small restaurant with quite a lot of outdoor seating and since Suk 25 is not a busy street we sat outside and enjoyed the somewhat cool air Bangkok has as of late. They have a big menu with some focus on salads, pizza and pasta. The pasta is made fresh at the restaurant so I shied away from the pizza. We shared a huge Caesar Salad that was awesome. Could be a meal if eating alone but perfect for sharing. Then we shared a plate of fettuccine carbonara - awesome. One could really tell it was fresh pasta. We also had a carafe of house white wine - which was not cheap but quite tasty. We piled it all down and chilled with the wine while watching Sukhumvit go by.
Then the waiter came by with the dessert tray, which I usually pass on, but the Apple Crumble looked amazing. Bottom layer was like an oatmeal cookie, then a layer of apple filling and then topped off with what I am assuming was some type of meringue. It came slightly warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was the bomb. I almost ordered a second helping. I highly suggest trying this dessert out.
We polished off the wine and chatted a bit with the owner/manager. Nice dude. The bill was 1000 even all in for plenty of food, wine and dessert. Props.
Details:
Pizza Aroy - Sukumvit soi 25. U can’t miss the place. First restaurant on the right when u enter the soi. U can see it when strolling down Sukhumvit. no website. maybe none needed?

Was it subject to tax and service charge? Did you tip him in his hand?

A friend of mine got a coffee there once… it only had a hand job from the dishwasher in the price, and he had to go into the kitchen. The prices there are a bit steep, but it is a nice little restaurant. That whole little square in front of the hostel is a nice spot to hang out on a hot afternoon.

Great post, but the replies are so rude… Admin needs to address such childish replies.
1000 baht for the salad for two, pasta, wine and dessert Jack is pretty reasonable. That just my 2 cents. Thanks for the interesting review, will check it out!

Actually, I believe you’ll find that two of the childish replies were from ‘Admin’… in fact, he started it.
Nah nah na na nah :p

smitty here - also one of the admins, sometimes hacker, writer, and shit stirrer all in one. Steven - welcome to the blog. One of the most unique in Thailand. In between our cunning opinions of economics and local politics - we talk about nightlife, partying, general debauchery and where to get food. JD loves to wind us up and I am happy to oblige. Hope among all of our rude commenting you are able to find nuggets of useful information.
orion - this is coming from the guy who asked what bar he was in and did not know it was stamped on his hand? nice.
