@Thongsuk - Thanks for the info, I have been living in BKK for 3 years on and off. I have signed a confidentiality agreement and i'm not allowed to say what I do or where I go. But basically I'm in my 20's, work for a billionaire, earn a 6-figure salary and work half of every year without paying tax. Most of my money is going towards my first project which is to buy a house in England so that I can rent it out, paying the mortgage and when it's paid supplying myself with an income for when i'm an OFB. Now I would love to go to Uni in Bangkok mostly for the fun of it but I may as well complete a course that would further my knowledge in some of the gray areas of my work. I'm a qualified Marine Engineering Officer who use to work for SHELL (England & Singapore), Tokyo Gas, Tokyo Elec, Sultan of Brunei. I have moved into a more private field. I believe there building a new LNG terminal in Maptaphut, Rayong. I believe they could use someone of my experience. But that's not Bangkok. Power stations, Hotel services, Private Islands. Not sure what's out there really. I am learning to read and write Thai and my spoken is acceptable. And yes thanks I will fill my boots when I come back.

@ Young Royal : If you re-read my post, YR it's pretty clear that I was simply asking what you were qualified to do for a living (better than someone else who might be doing the same thing.
You had, after all, alluded to Uni and teaching, for different reasons, as being inviable ;-) had you not?
So, of course, I was curious as to what you intended to do for a living in order the live here :-)

( . . . . besides just being young and dewey . . . :-), That's all.
(even supplied ww's URL)

But I will say this:
The road to Bangkok hell is thickly paved with hansum young lads who thought they were gonna "get supported" one way or another.
(Notwithstanding the Bkk blog world's boards being spiced with numerous tales of just the opposite.)
You had touched on that alternative as well, or at least I assumed you had when you quipped "sponsorship" as an alternative in one of your earlier posts.
A sponsor to feed clothe and house you and most importantly allow you your evenings off, with an allowance, to go out and chase tail :-) Hmmmm, well perhaps, I guess.

I know a few guys who tried the gigolo thing.
It appears not to be a sustainer.

And while a young man may well be God's gift to Thai womanhood (Again, I am not suggesting you said or implied this) shagging a succession of over-moisturized and over surgically-improved big-haired Chinese ladies for baht might not be to your liking. And lining up with the Eastern Europeans, Thai Lotharios and yes some of our very own lads, to do this will not be pleasant.

Free pussy is one thing but you still have feed clothe and house yourself as well and you'd need plenty of "furniture" and walkin'-around-money, as well.
So unless you are, indeed a "Young Royal" sponsorship would be an unrealistic peg on which to hang your hat.

Why not just continue to use these blogs suss out your needs and familiarize yourself with the tenderloin playgrounds of the local prowling classes and simply holiday here as much as you can?

Learn Thai? Corporate transfer?

That way you won't slip into this tender trap before it's safe to do so.

OK, ok, ok well actually, I'm just Old Fat Bald & Jealous.
Fill your boots young fella :-)

@YoungRoyal: OFB is not common parlance, it was borrowed from my self-description in a different post this past week. It stands for Old, Fat & Bald. Basically it's short for my aging-Homer-Simpson-look.

Thongsuk - I thought Orion meant teaching instead of going to Uni. I never said I was better than the average person, although I probably do have a better job than the average person. It's a good idea to work to help get by, and I wonder what kind of work I could do. It would have to been night work and I suppose I could work in the semesters off, but I just don't fancy teaching.

Congratulations on paying tax.

@ Orion: Fantastic. You had the pretty and the PR getting hammered from your bottle.
Were either of them on the clock?
Is this business as usual at Pent or were you getting speshun first night treatment because a) you'd just dropped 20K and a) your good looks and tender years :-)
Did the fat Thai power drinker get any play?
Better to find out from you than ask pretty girls I want to impress I think.

Young Royal: " . . . . just want to advance my career." and teaching just wasn't "you".
In addition to your 60K figure, you mention "lost wages" i.e. "opportunity cost" for your 4 years Uni time.

You're quite right.
Unless one has sufficient investment income, (one of the perqs, incidentally, of being OFB ;-) work really is a major component of most of our lives here.
We have jobs.
http://bargirlsrpeople2.wordpress.com/2007/10/21/working-for-a-living/
In many ways we actually contribute to the real as well as the gray economy and some of us actually support families and pay taxes.

So just what is it, presently, that you do or that you are qualified to do, better than the average person, for which you'd be compensated and advanced here in Bangkok?
