Been busy folks and not out much but did a quick run the other night and will summarize it here. First off we had dinner at Le Opera on Sukhumvit 39. Tasty stuff. Some of u don’t dig the member clubs. Some u do but either way they are a part of the Bkk fabric and overtime my guess is they grow in numbers while at the same time the naughty nightlife that we are most accustomed to shrinks. It is already beginning to happen. Member clubs are not cheap but in some sense if u just consider it as pre-paying for your booze as a way to gain entrance and get better attention than the normal joe walking in off the street than it is not really a big deal. No one forces u to buy drinks and in some sense u can use the place as a jumping off point for the rest of the night. Having met some of the girls through the club(s), I now have numbers for girls who randomly want to hook up from time to time. They are not as easy as the go-go girls but most are generally a hell of a lot hotter. Each to his own.
We have a member card for Forte. We have friends with a member card to Sopranos. I have various Soprano girls on speed dial. We thought about hitting the Ekkamai or Ratchada clubs but the problem is the location makes it hard to make a night out of going to multiple places but it may still be in the cards. I would love it if some readers would share some posts regarding Resort, Caribbean and so on. We have talked about the Whitehouse before but my guess is u don’t need to be a member there to get the bennies. So given that we still like to be close to lower Suk since a night out usually does not end at a member club - we decided to check out the Pent on wireless road.
The Pent has been around 4 years and is owned by the same guy who owns Forte. The Pent has quite a different layout than most since it is divided into multiple areas. First off is a lounge area with a bar, lounge seating and the stage for the live band. I like this setup since I am not always into the live bands and it gives me a chance to avoid them when needed. The next area is the pool area. A real live pool with seating around the pool, a bar and a clear walkway that someone can use to walk out into the middle of the pool. I have heard of the notorious Pent pool parties and hope to see one soon. The next area is the disco room. A large room with a bar, lots of tvs, a dj and places for the coyote dancers to dance. Basically on the tables. Good stuff. This may help deal with one of the issues I have with the Forte and Sopranos. These clubs are basically a one room large layout and anytime there is live music there are no more coyote dancers. Although the Disco room does not get going until after 10:30 pm it seems there is always some activity with the coyote dancers. Coyote dancers at the member clubs are some of the hottest girls available to mere mortals in Bangkok.
It may have been a mistake to go to the Pent on a Sunday night but that was the only option. Granted the place was not busy and although the sales lady said the girls were in, one of the coyote dancers said that Sundays were usually half staffed. Keep in mind also that October is exam month at most Bangkok universities so a lot of the girls work less days and some even take the month off. Many of the girls only go to school to get and collect homework and take the tests. So the Disco room did not get going until 11:00 or so and I must say we were getting ripped. Like any member club I was not expecting to be blown away right off but I was impressed with the coyote girls, the music and the vibe. It will take a few trips to get the lay of the land and pick some targets but I am looking forward to it.
We blew out of the Pent and headed to Cowboy. First stop was Shark bar. We had one drink and out. After coming from a member club there are only 2 ways to play it since the girls at the member clubs are generally hotter that anything u might see on Cowboy - not all but most. U either have to go dirty or nude. So Shark was too boring and they were wearing too much clothing. Next we went to Shebas. Full nude lineup and we were enjoying all the bald tacos. Then I think we went to Rawhide. My order could be all messed up at this point. We had a couple there and enjoyed the B, but mostly A team during a few shows. Then I think we went to Suzie Wongs after that. Similar to Shebas but I think the girls are cuter at Shebas. Drunk and looking to party some of us headed to The Tunnel while others barfined.
The Tunnel was happening for a Sunday night and I was honing in a gaggle of girls who appeared to be somewhat new to the scene. Turns out they were some Bangkok University girls partying on their last night before they had to stay put at school for exams. All good. I picked the one in the black dress with the big boobs. Simple way to hone in on my target and keep my bearings. Then I got a phone call.
I jumped into the bathroom. It was a girl from Forte who was at home and lonely. I ditched out and went to get a taxi. See - the member clubs come through when u least expect them to.

I read this blog around 10:30 pm on Thursday night. Realizing I was doing nothing except watching a stupid movie on cable, I put on some clothes and headed out to Pent Club, arriving around 11 pm.
Just wanting to look around, I paid 660 baht and got coupons for two beers.
If I hadn’t read the blog above, I probably would never have gotten past the main showroom, and left dissatisfied, but the description of the pool area had me intrigued, and I kept looking around.
Overall, this is a very upscale venue. I found 4 areas:
1. The main showroom,with a live band, a stage with a ‘catwalk’ and while I was there, a special show on. Think AngelWitch with more room and a bigger budget and I think you’ve got it. Good, but not good enough for me to part with 20K baht for a membership.
2. An upstairs ‘mezzanine’ level that wraps around the showroom and the stage. Suitable if you come with a large group for a party.
3. The pool area. Very nice, and very quiet. A great place to get to know somebody. Decent sized pool that looked okay for a swim, but no swimmers while I was there.
Up to this point, I was ready to drink my beer and go home. Then I found
4. The coyote bar with hip hop music. Girls dancing on stage and tables. High energy, good music, beautiful girls. My kind of place.
I have read before about all the ‘beautiful’ and ’stunning’ girls in these clubs. I went to Sapranos about 4 months ago and was very disappointed… everything was expensive, but the girls were no better (IMHO) than the girls I could see in any go go bar.
But tonight at Pent was different! Not every girl was a stunner, but there were large numbers of them. There were probably 1,000 men in the place, and the ration of girls to men was about 1:1. The men were 98% Thai & Japanese… I’d say less than a dozen Ferang.
I’ve always read on the internet that these places are tougher on the pickup than just going to a go go bar, or beer bar and pointing at the girl you want, and that being young and handsome is probably an advantage.
To put things in perspective, think of Homer Simpson, make him 8 years older, and you have me. Bradd Pitt, I ain’t.
But the energy in the place was great. In the hip hop room I saw a girl dancing who was as hot as any girl I’ve seen, and it made up my mind. I went up front and paid my 20,000 baht for a membership.
I’m not a whiskey drinker… I drink beer. The deal was 1 year, 11 bottles of Chivas or 100 bottles of beer. Thinking that (a) Whiskey sounded like a better value, and (b) it would be easier to share with the girls, I opted for the whiskey plan.
I took my first bottle and headed for the hip hop room. By this time it was about midnight, and the club closes at 2 am.
The girl who sold me my membership (Joy) never left my side. She drank with me all night (from my bottle, but in very modest amounts) and continually was GENUINELY helpful, introducing girls, pouring drinks, dancing with me, and trying to make sure I had ’sanuk’ (a fun time). At 2 am, she walked me out front and got me into a taxi home.
Being OF&B (old, fat & bald) I expected no interest from any girls… Wrong!
It was no tougher than a go go bar or beer bar. I’d look at a beautiful girl (and there were plenty of them) and they would raise their eyebrows to ask if I wanted company. If a girl saw me looking at her friend, she pointed and asked if I wanted the girl to join me.
I was in no hurry, so I shook off every signal. But the girl I thought was so hot earlier spotted me and came over. She mentioned that she saw me watching her dance earlier, so I invited her to have a drink with me.
This wasn’t a skanky 38 year old tattoo queen with 3 kids. This girl was light skinned, 155 cm, 39 kilos, with a beautiful face and braces on her teeth. I thought she was 17 years old. In return, she hung out with me to closing time. I had the 30-ish sales lady in a suit on my right, and the 24 yr old dancer with braces on my left. Lots of dancing, hugs, conversation, kisses and fun.
On the stage, things got more enthusiastic as we approached closing time. The girls started pouring water on each other and shedding clothes. They were drinking Chivas straight from the bottle. The dancing got more energetic, with water flying. It was like a high-energy go go bar.
At the end of the night my girl asked about coming home with me. I need to work in the morning, so I told her I’d save it for another day. We traded phone numbers, and I told her I’d see her again soon.
I’m guessing that the limited number of Ferang works in the favor of OFBs like me. Some of these girls want to speak English, and probably want to marry a Ferang and live happily ever after.
I’d have to say that I had good contact with at least 6 girls in 2 hours who were interested in hanging out with me. Half of them were BEAUTIFUL. All of them were young.
I have to say I’ve been skeptical about the idea of member clubs as I’ve read about them on the internet. Based on my one previous visit, I saw them as just a more expensive option.
I can say that Pent seemed the same way while I was in the main room (reminded me of Sapranos) but the pool room and hip hop room changed my ideas entirely.
I had a great night, and used only about 6% of my 20K investment (about 1,200 baht) for 2 hours of high energy fun.
The girls, overall, were hot. There was something for everyone, and I saw — easily — a dozen girls who looked like they could rock my world. All the concerns about it being harder than a go go to get girls seemed unfounded. Like I said, I am no prize, and I had plenty of options in the short time I was there.
The only caveat I’d give is that the idea that your bottle of whiskey will supply the girls with their drinks seems to be ill-founded. The girls were hustling drinks, and I saw them cashing chits, so it’s a way to earn their way. Be prepared to pay for some (high priced) drinks for the girls (tequila shots were 320 baht each, discounted 20% for member).
I read somewhere (maybe on another website) that you may need to pay for the girl’s time to sit with you. Definitely not from what I saw, but the drink hustling is a pain in the butt.
Overall, looks like a good value, even if you’re an OFB guy like me.

As u get to know some girls they will drink from your bottle and hustle less. Some of the girls will do the 250 baht I think it is for an hour to be with u and drink from your whiskey. These places are fun to start the night out and over time your rolodex will build. In my mind the hot ones are as hot as u will find in Thailand.

I like the G-Clubs much better than the gogos. The girls are so much hotter and classier, and many of them are easy to hook up with later at no charge. If you get a membership then hanging in G-Clubs isn’t all that more expensive than going to gogo bars, especially if you figure the free coyote pussy vs. barfining gogo girls into the equation.
One thing that puts me off at gogo bars is the obviousness of it all. I hate it when you try to give a girl you had fun with on a prior night some repeat business and you get cock-blocked by some ugly old fat guy because he pays 500bht more, “sorry need money for mama, I go with you tomorrow”.

Phoenix: Santika, near Soi 11 on Ekamai (which is Sukhumvit Soi 63) has superb rock band every night from about 11pm….and is always sanuk mak.

Regarding Ritz: Been there a few times, but not as good IMHO as Sopranos, Forte, Resort or Pent g-clubs. Less girls, less hot girls, not as good a band, a bit impersonal ambiance (it is a warehouse of a place inside)…..

They don’t do classic rock but they jam and there Linkin park covers are amazing. Somewhere near Ratchadamri is also the Hard rock joint that has live music every night. I forget the name of the place though.

@@Phoenix: For some good old rock & roll it’s hard to go past the Band at the Five Star Go Go Bar in Soi Cowboy, playing 7 nights a week from 9:30 till closing with only 1 break at midnight when the naked girls dance to CD music for 30 minutes.

Yeah - the Bangkok Gig Guide is a good resource.
Santika is not a members club. Just a great nightclub with back room dance area and large front room with a live music band. The band does a lot of Thai hard rock (which is great btw) but also covers of Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, that kind of stuff (not classic 70’s-80’s rock). There are a lot of clubs like this in Bangkok, especially around Ratchada Soi 4-6-8 and in the ‘burbs…..but Santika is always packed, is farang friendly, and has tons of hotties there…..
We all forgot Hard Rock Cafe in Siam Square…..small venue, regular P4P crowd, tourists….but sometimes they have good bands in residence that play hard rock.
As for members clubs (Sopranos, Forte, Ritz, Resort, Pent, Sky, etc.) yes they all do have live music…..but not all the time (it is intermixed with coyote dancing) and in Pent’s case there are multiple rooms and only one with live music. The Soprano’s house band is generally regarded as the best resident band in any club in Thailand. They rarely play the same set from night to night, and I have been stunned by the quality of covers they do (I’m very jealous of the guitar player, as I struggle to play guitar myself).

I’m a bit confused here.
Regarding werewolf’s review, do you need to be a member to enter the ‘rooms’?
Do you sample them from outside (like in a hall) and to enter you have to become a member?
Or is it a club with exclusive rooms that require a 20k entrance fee (for a year)?

JC - no you do not need to be a member. Membership just gives you cheaper drinking and companionship. When you go in they’ll ask for a member card, just say you don’t have one but you’d like to check the place out. Tell the girl you like Coyote and they’ll take you to the back room. When there just order a bottle, I think about 2K. Then just enjoy. After that they will ask you now and then if you want to become a member - if you like it - then go for it because it makes for a smoother ride. Having said that this is a low pressure place, people having fun. Not for everyone but I love them…

I went to Sopranos last night.
For me there was too much live music and not enough coyote dancing but had a good time anyway.
If you like good live music then Sopranos is a good place to go, the house band really is very good. They were playing an assortment of rock covers last night incl. Linkin Park and Queen.

One of the issues in general with places like sopranos and forte is their large room format and their catering to the asian customer. Meaning the live bands, the shows and so on tend to take over and since this all happens in one room that leaves less time for coyote dancers. Granted they can’t danc all night since unlike the nana 2 step shuffle some of these girls are actually moving. I am somewhat excited about the pent since with it all being in separate rooms the dancers in the disco room seem to be going more and none of this is impeded by the live band. Another place they tended to take shorter live music breaks and keep the dancers going more was thonburi plaza.

The Pent is a large club with 3 or 4 sepearate areas.
Area 1 has a live band playing music (a mix of Thai and English songs) but a little too much Carpenters music for my taste. Girls here are in dresses and the scene reminds me of a 1950’s nightclub. Area 2 is a mezzanine level that looks down on Area 1.
Area 3 is an indoor pool with a high roof and an outdoor feel. There are tables and chairs. Fairly quiet. A good place to hang out drinking and talking. I saw groups of 4 or 5 men with a lady each really enjoying the ambiance.
Area 4 is a coyote bar playing very loud hip hop. The dancing girls tend to wear shorts and have bare midriffs and either tennis shoes or 3 inch heels. Generally the girls in this area are a bit younger than the front room.
Non members are welcome. Two choices:
1. Pay 3,000 baht cover and get a bottle of Chivas & free mixers.
2. Pay 660 baht cover and get two drink coupons (for beer or highballs)
Membership of 20,000 baht is good for a year, and includes your choice of:
* 11 bottles of Chivas; or
* 100 bottles of beer
Your membership effectively ends in 12 months or when you drink all your booze, whichever comes first.
Personally, I liked Pent a lot better than Sapronos because they had the three different areas separated, where Sapranos mixes it all in one big room, going from live music to dancing and back again, with very little in the way of quiet ‘get to know you’ space.
At 660 baht for a look in, I reckon it’s worth it. Because it’s quite big, it’s the kind of place that works well for a medium or large sized group. That’s when the value of bottles of whiskey in the membership makes sense.

Never been to Pent so I am hoping you can give me a heads up on something. I realise the Pent is a G Club and therefore, by definition, targeted at guys. I was in Pent Club on Sunday night with a friend from Sydney. He did something I haven’t done before; he asked the Mamasan to bring one of the “front room girls” [my term] to sit with him. These are the girls in coctail dresses who drink and verbally entertain the customers.
It turns out that you either need to be buying lady drinks for them or you will be charged anyway. The girl was drinking my whiskey and talking to my buddy. When the bill came, I’d been charged two drinks for her. I spoke to the Mamasan who explained that the club charges 1 lady drink for every 35 minutes the girl sits with you (if you’re not actually buying her drinks).
After Member Discount, this is 288 baht every 35 minutes. So, for 1 hour 45 minutes you would pay 864 baht, or about 500 baht per hour for her company.
In my previous visits, I have sat alone for the brief periods of time I spent in the front room. I spent most of my time in the disco. The dancers can spend their time where they like when they are not dancing, though they earn 130 baht per lady drink, so they are motivated to get you to buy them.
As I learn more and more I realize that it’s more expensive than it seems at first blush.

@Drama - girls with customers are tolerated by the G-clubs, but they are not made particularly welcome…..and most g-clubs will charge you a door fee for every girl guest you bring in to cover their loss of money from you likely not buying g-club girls drinks. This can be as much as 800 bht a girl.
Having said that, I have taken a few different girls into g-clubs, and they have always had a great time.
