Bringing it into the country is hard though. A small amount for personal use is OK but for commercial amounts it requires FDA approval. If you hand carry a couple of jugs you'll have no problems in the airport. Back when it was illegal I'd buy it in Singapore and carry it back and never had any problems. The oral roids are really toxic on the liver so you can take them only for short amounts of time (4 weeks tops), can't drink alcohol at all while doing them and should get regular bloodwork done to check your liver enzyme levels. The milder ones are also hard to get and expensive in Thailand. Injecting is really the healthier and safer way to go. The horror stories of abscesses come from athletes using bootlegged unsterile black market juice, but in Thailand you get pharmaceutical grade over the counter so that's a non issue if you use proper hygiene.
