Exploring Patpong 2 recently, I wandered up one of the staircases that nobody ever ascends. And found a whole row of bars that I hadn’t explored yet.
The two staircases are outside the Trade Winds bar, and approximately opposite the Executive lounge. Head up, and between them lie a row of Thai Karaoke lounges, regular beer bars, and an establishment called Kob’s Place. Which is, quite possible, the world’s dingiest BJ bar. If you thought the Star of Light was pretty hardcore, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Kob wasn’t around when I visited, but the five girls in attendance were very welcoming indeed. Well, four of them were. The fifth was asleep in a booth.
I bought a Tiger beer for 90 baht, sat down at a table near the door (always keep a clear exit), and was promptly set upon. Now let’s get one thing straight. These were not stunningly good-looking girls. Two of them looked like sea monsters. The other two may have been the most attractive girls in the bar, but only by default. You wouldn’t pick them out of a gogo lineup, is my point.
Anyway, within two sips of my beer, two of the girls had their hands in my pants, and the others were dancing in what they clearly thought was a provocative manner. And it’s the thought that counts, isn’t it?
“Blow job eight hundred”, said one.
“Seven hundred”, countered I.
“Okay”.
And so she did, in the bar, with people (occasionally) walking past outside. What she lacked in talent, she certainly made up for with enthusiasm.
“I want boom boom”, she said after a while - in between mouthfuls.
“How much?”
“One thousand”.
“Go on then”.
She squealed with delight, and swiftly stripped. We’re still sat in the bar, remember.
“You have condom?” she asked.
“Er, no”, I said.
“Okay”.
And, incredibly, she moved in to squat down on BBB-jr, coming within a gnat’s whisker of initiating completely unprotected sex before I realised she was serious, and stopped her in the nick of time.
“Are you insane? Condom!”
She pulled a face. “O-kay…”
So that was that. One for you suicidal bareback fans. Me, I had safe sex in the bar, progressing (eventually) onto the bed in the back room. I was offered the anal option for two thousand, but decided to save my money, and finished off by tickling the young lady’s tonsils with my own brand of face-whitening cream. Very popular with the Thais, you know.
So. Kob’s Place. Nary a stunner in sight, but still recommended for the more adventurous types…

@NABRW.com: Kob is Thai for “Frog”, and is a nickname - presumably of the owner.
@MSB: Star of Light has charged 700 baht for as long as I’ve been going there. Lolita’s is also 700. The BJ bars on Patpong 1 seem to all charge 800.

@werewolf: Weird. I've been to the Star of Light on many occasions, and it's always cost me 700. Always cost my friends 700 too. I never heard of a bar lowering their prices before! Are beers still 80 baht?

@MSB: Friend of a friend who's been going for years confirms that he still pays 500. So I guess they "grandfathered" the old price for their older regulars. First time I visited was after June 2006, so I got to pay 700. Oh well. Still worth it!

Could someone give me an update on all the BJ bars around - I'll be in town at the end of Jan and I'm afraid BJ bars are one of my weaknesses. Please don't judge me - we all have weaknesses.
