The power of the blessed super sours!

ss.jpgOkay folks. Someone mentioned this to me the other day but I just could not believe it. Hell - even Yahoo UK news has it filed under offbeat but this is Thailand. Fiction isn’t this good. It seems someone dreamed up an idea to buy 140,000 packets of sour candy that would get blessed by 2,999 monks. The sour candies would be used to hand out to motorists who might be asleep at the wheel in hopes of stopping some of the normal accidents that happen over Thai New Year. Of course none of this will stop the teenagers who get drunk and fly down the road on their motorbikes and impale themselves against a brick wall but oh well. Priceless. Almost has good as the story about the Nobel Peace Prize from the “book that shall not be named”.

Apparently the money was donated by an NGO to help stop accidents of Songkran. I guess the NGO assumed the police would use it to set up check points to test drink drivers, put more than one police officer on duty over the period and educate people over the dangers of driving over Songkran…….. BUT NO they came up with the ultimate solution one which Walt Disney and Einstein’s love child would never have been able to dream up. And you know what? I LOVE EM MORE FOR IT
