The Christmas Hangover

In the aftermath of yesterday’s earthquake in Taiwan, internet connectivity has ground to a virtual halt here in Thailand.

I can access this site at the moment, but things may change over the next few days - if I seem a little quieter than usual, this is why. Mango Sauce and Google, for example, are both currently unreachable from Bangkok.

On a happier note, I was delighted to scoff down a seven-course meal on Christmas Day, before hitting Soi Cowboy with some friends (and our distended bellies). I bagged a frankly stunning girl from one of my favourite bars, and had a very Merry Christmas indeed.

All the best to all of my readers for what remains of 2006 - may 2007 bring you happiness, good health, prosperity, and hordes of lithe, enthusiastic (and affordable!) Thai girls.

Cheers!

Wow, sounds intense. I hope everything is okay in Thailand. US Media is trumping the whole quake down as if it wasn’t any biggie, but it sounds to me business might suffer with lack of connectivity overseas. Be sure to keep us all updated! Have a wonderful new year! -Jack H.

I think there are only 2 confirmed deaths so far, so it makes sense that the global media folks aren’t too interested in the ‘quake. The damaged cables will apparently need to be dredged up by divers onto ships to be repaired though, and that’s not going to happen overnight.

Access is sporadic - the BBC has been up and down, Google is currently working here but Mango Sauce is still dead. I see Dave the Rave hasn’t published a newsletter this week, so I’m guessing he’s having problems too.

Oh well - perhaps this inconvenience will encourage me to spend the remains of the “holiday season” actually, you know… holidaying!

All the best for the new year.
