Had some friends in town and we had one night to really get it going. The rest of my time was devoted to getting the Duke of Wellington open - our new pub. 323 Silom Road. At the base of the United Center building. Near Delifrance. Just look for the big ass Duke of Wellington sign. U can’t miss it. So with the one night we made some plans to hit it hard, fast and big. One stop along the way was Club Sugar. A semi-coyote, semi-member but not really sure what it is suppose to be club. But we decided to check it out anyway.
Club Sugar is located on Soi 24 - past Emporium on the left. It used to be called something else and before that - something else. I can never remember what it is called because it never does well so they always change the club and the name. Not sure it will work this time either. Bangkok is currently having a coyote dancing phase. Hot girls, if not hot coyote kind of sucks, dancing in skimpy or sexy outfits. Can be okay but sometimes tough to beat an all nude gogo bar. So some of the member clubs are going coyote, some gogos went coyote(sucky hollywood in NEP), and I think even some of the banks have coyote dancing to entertain while u wait in line to hand over the BOT 30% of whatever u brought with u. Point is we are getting coyote’d out just a bit. Club Sugar is no different.
We got there early hoping to get a good view. We did get there early. First ones but yet it was almost 10:00. So that was not a good sign. The view was great but there was not much to look at. Service was okay but was quite painful explaining to them what we wanted for mixers with our overpriced bottle of vodka but somehow we got through it - and the bottle. The girls were cute but not amazing. The shows were - okay but not over the moon. The band was cool but I am not into seeing bands at girly clubs. Gets boring. We bought some ladydrinks and chatted up some of the ladies but they were not that hot on close inspection. I would say a Sopranos or Forte club has better lookers.
At this point I don’t have much more to say. Mostly cause I was getting hammered and there was not much to remember. The shows did not get much better. There was some talk of the Thai Penthouse Girls showing up, which would be cool, but it was either get moving to a place with some action or risk falling asleep on the table. Or maybe I was just drinking too much. Who knows.
Try it for yourself to be sure if u really like it but not sure I will be back. There just was not much to really keep me interested but I should not diss it too hard. There were a lot of girls and not a lot of customers so the odds are good but that in itself means the place just is not too interesting. Club Sugar just needs some more sweetening.
